1: How can I verify that you are a Board Certified plastic surgeon?
A: You can visit The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery as well as The American Society of Plastic Surgeons; I am an active member of both societies, as well the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery.

2: Do you perform any surgeries in your office, or an outpatient surgical facility, or in a hospital?
A: I perform all my surgeries in a hospital facility. The majority of my surgeries are performed within a mile of my office, at Inova Mount Vernon Hospital.

3: May I see “before and after surgery pictures” of your former patients?
A: Yes, most of the procedures listed on this site are accompanied with before and after pictures. Please refer to the Procedures section for more information

4: May I speak with your former patients regarding a procedure I am interested in, that they have had?
A: Yes, by request and at the discretion of the former patient. We give our former patients your contact information, and they will contact you directly to speak with them about their experiences. You can also visit our testimonial page to see former patients' general and specific appreciation of Dr. Matini's services.

5: How much advance notice should I give you to schedule a surgical procedure? Is there a waiting list?
A: There is a waiting list – patients need to schedule at least three to four (3-4) weeks in advance.

6: How long before surgery should I visit you? What shall I have completed before surgery can begin?
A: Two weeks prior to surgery the patient shall:

  • read the informed consent form for surgery
  • sign the informed consent form for surgery
  • have a pre-operative photograph taken
  • pay the entire cost of surgery

7: What forms of payment plans do you offer?
A: We accept cash, personal check, and the following credit card payments:

  • Visa
  • Mastercard
  • American Express
  • Discover

8: Is the cost of surgery in a hospital facility comparable with in-office surgery prices?
A: Yes.

9: How long, after the surgery is performed, should the doctor see the patient?
A: One to four (1-4) days after surgery, depending on the type of procedure. For example, a patient will be seen twenty-four (24) hours after a facelift procedure. However, a patient will be seen four (4) days after a breast augmentation procedure.

10: Do you take vacations after performing surgery?
A: For five (5) days after any cosmetic surgery, I do not schedule any time away from my office.

11: Can I see you after surgery for any questions or concerns?
A: Yes, your question will be answered during the same day. If your concern requires a visit, you will be seen during the same day.

12: After surgery, may I drive home or take a cab?
A: Yes, unless you have had any type of non-local anesthesia, such as general anesthesia or IV-sedation, then someone else must drive you home – you will not be able to take a cab home by yourself.

13: If surgery is done as an outpatient procedure, do I need someone to watch me that evening?
A: Yes, just someone. If you do not have anyone to watch you that evening, for a nominal fee, you can stay in the hospital overnight.
